Blended Fibre: Looking for something a little funky, or looking to combine the best qualities of several different types of fibre? You're in the right place! When we say 'Blends' we mean that colours or fibre types have been carded (or blended or mixed) together to create stunning combinations. Some of the blending we do by hand (like rolags and batts), others (like tops) are done at a UK mill.
Mostly: Naturally Dyed English locks and BFL/Bamboo blend
with: our ‘Coral Brights’ blend of BFL/Shetland/Bamboo
and splashes of: White Welsh, natural Bamboo, wild Silk, and our ‘Sunshine’ BFL/Shetland/Bamboo/Nylon blend.
About this colour way: Could you ask for a happier, brighter, blend? Shocks of that bright white natural bamboo is complimented by those happy squiggles of wool locks and held together with our fun coral and sunshine blends. Honestly these colours just called to me and I had to blend them together! This should be a fun a spin, and you could work across the batt to give yourself an almost stripe-like effect or rip piece off and mix and match them up for a dreamy creamy yarn.
Spinning tip: Spinning tip: BFL is seriously my favourite and easiest fibre to spin with. Great for newbies! Suitable for felting also! Bamboo is super strong and super silky, not to mention eco-friendly. I like to spin this at a very low speed (especially to start with) and it’s great to practice getting very thin yarn. It’s quite a cool fibre so would be great for summery projects. It drapes similar to cotton. Bamboo is suitable for felting too, but we’ve heard that it works better for needle felting and not so great for wet felting. Just so you know. :)
